How do i know if my violin is a beginner violin?

I have a Salvatore Cadoni 100.. is it a beginner’s violin?

This is hard. It appears that the Salvatore Cadoni model 100 is a viola. The Cadoni violins in that number-range are 80 and 200. However, all the Cadoni instruments in this model-number region are beginning-student to intermediate-student instruments.

Measure the length of your instrument. If the total length is greater than 21", it is a viola. (Viola sizes are named for the body length, 13" to 16", but the overall size of violas runs 21" to 26".) Generally, violas are 1" to 4" longer than a 4/4 violin.

Regardless, your instrument is a beginner’s instrument.

Any ideas on a violin book that will teach a beginner?

I just got a violin from a friend who didn’t need it anymore cause he got a new one so he gave it to me because I wanna learn, so without using a violin teacher (because we don’t have enough money at the moment) what book brand/name/writer is the best? I’m not too familiar with violins but just a book for a beginner will be great. Thanks for helping.

The most popular books that are used in the public school programs are:

Stricktly Strings
All for Strings
Essential Ellements 2000 w/ CD -probably the most used method book
Spotlight on Strings

I like the Spotlight on Strings book. It was written by Doris Gazda, a national acclaimed music teacher who has many published works for young musicians.

Is there a good violin guidebook? Including how to clean & maintain the instruments, what’s good to and no-go for violin, how to choose best strings/bow/polisher, how to tune the violin and other things. Some book that covers guide about violin from the very very basic that even beginners can understand.

Thank you!

This is a great little resource

Would I be able to teach beginner violin?

I’m 17 years old, nearly 18. I have been playing the violin for over 10 years and did my grade 7 in november (and passed! :D )

The idea of teaching violin to beginners has interested me for quite some time now… I’m looking to be a teacher, so I already have some experience of tutoring and have carried out work experience in primary schools.

Would it be a good idea for me to teach beginner violin?

definitely!! if your talking about ABRSM grade 7 then you’re certainly ready (grade 8 means your officially certified to teach all levels) If your good with little kids and already have some experience then go for it! anyway teaching beginner music is usually pretty easy for most instruments. good luck :)

How much can I learn to play violin in 6 months?

I’ve never had any music experiences before, I don’t even know how to read notes. But I’ve always wanted to learn the violin. I’m taking a violin lesson now but I can only go for 6 months as I have to go back to my home country (currently living somewhere else). So, how much can I learn then?

Thanks! :)

You can learn a lot of the first position notes and several simple tunes in that time.
