This is hard. It appears that the Salvatore Cadoni model 100 is a viola. The Cadoni violins in that number-range are 80 and 200. However, all the Cadoni instruments in this model-number region are beginning-student to intermediate-student instruments.

Measure the length of your instrument. If the total length is greater than 21", it is a viola. (Viola sizes are named for the body length, 13" to 16", but the overall size of violas runs 21" to 26".) Generally, violas are 1" to 4" longer than a 4/4 violin.

Regardless, your instrument is a beginner's instrument.
References :
Yes it is a beginner level instrument. My guess is that it is actually an Eastman instrument (from the photos it is identical) that has been relabeled. This is a common practice to have a "shop brand" named instrument that keeps people from comparing apples to apples. If it is the Eastman 100, that puts it in the price range of around $400-500 which makes it a beginner level instrument. Anyone that knows instruments doesn't even consider instruments under around $300 as worth purchasing so the beginner level starts at $300 and goes up to around $750.If you are looking to step up, look over $750 to get something better, a small jump from $400-600 won't get you much if anything better.
References :
I am a retired violin maker and repairmen with 35 years experience in the retail violin market and violinist of over 40 years.

As I am no longer in business and don’t sell anything, I just give free unbiased advice based on decades of experience. For lots of useful information on buying an instrument, repairs and maintenance, strings accessories, appraisals and lots more, check out my information only web site at: http://www.violininformation.webs.com

As a general rule if it cost less than $800-1,000, it's a beginner violin. That's described as an "entry level" violin on some websites.
